Once you have completed your purchase, you will be sent your policy documents. It is important that you take the time to read them so that you know what is and what is not covered.
Pre-existing Medical Conditions
First Travel may provide additional cover for pre-existing medical conditions, as long as these have
been declared to, and accepted by, the Sales team on 0203 824 0735.
Please note that the policy for medical cover will run alongside your First Travel Insurance Policy.
To ensure you are provided with the appropriate cover, please disclose your medical conditions if:

You, or anyone insured under this policy has ever been diagnosed or received treatment for; Any
type of heart or circulatory condition; Any type of stroke or high blood pressure; Any type of
breathing condition (such as Asthma); Any type of Cancer (even if now in remission); Any type of
Diabetes; Any type of Irritable Bowel Disease;

Your doctor has altered your regular prescribed medication in the last 3 months;

You or anyone who is insured under this policy are waiting for any tests, treatment or a
non-routine hospital appointment.

In the last 2 years - you, or anyone who is insured under this policy, have been treated for any
serious or re-occurring medical condition, asked to take regular prescribed medication, or
referred to a specialist or consultant at a hospital for tests, diagnosis or treatment.
Make a note of the First Travel product that most suits your needs and to give the Sales Team a call.
Please note: For full travel insurance cover with medical conditions, you must purchase a policy from
first-travel-insurance.co.uk, as well as,
declaring your conditions to the Sales Team (some pre-existing medical conditions may
require an additional premium which should be paid directly to tifgroup).
If we have considered your medical condition and you accept our offer of cover, any additional
premium we require should be paid to the Sales Team within 14 days.
Should you decide not to pay the additional premium, the declared medical condition will not be
covered, which may impact on the cover provided, or the amount you are paid in the event of a
claim relating directly or indirectly from that condition.
Full confirmation of our terms and conditions will be sent to your email address after your online
screening or telephone call. Any additional medical conditions not declared to us will not be covered.
Please be aware that First Travel insurance does not provide cover for any claim in respect of:

Claims caused by an existing medical condition of a non-travelling close relative, the person
you are intending to stay with, or a close business associate or a friend, or any recognised
complication caused by the existing medical condition.

Private treatment unless authorised by the Assistance Team in advance and only where there are
no clinically capable state facilities available.

Treatment that could reasonably wait until your return home and is not considered as necessary
or emergency treatment,

Repatriation against the recommendations of the Sales Team,

Medical bills that are unreasonable or include excessive charges, overtreatment or are outside
of customary charges for that region. (tifgroup audit will handle this directly with medical
provider on your behalf.)
Change in Health
If your health or your ongoing medication changes between the date the policies were bought and the
date of travel you must advise the Sales Team on 0203 824 0735 as soon as possible. We
will advise you what cover we are able to provide, after the date of diagnosis. We reserve the right
to increase the premium, increase the excess, exclude the condition, or withdraw the cover should
the stability of the condition make it necessary. Please refer to the Policy Wording for full details
of the disclosure of your medical conditions.
Cancellation Cover
Please ensure that the cancellation value of your trip does not exceed the limit on the policy, as
this can reduce cover across your policy, you can call us to discuss this. Limits expressed within
the Policy are all 'Per Person'.
Curtailment
You should also be aware that if you have to cut your trip short, your curtailment claim will only
be calculated from the date that you actually return home, and no cover will be in place for loss of
enjoyment.
Cruise
If you are planning on insuring a cruise holiday, please ensure that you have selected the specific
cruise option. Please ensure that the cancellation value of your trip does not exceed the limit on
the policy, as this can reduce cover across your policy. Limits expressed within the Policy are all
'Per Person'.
Winter Sports
If you are planning on insuring a winter sports holiday, please ensure that you have selected the
specific winter sports extension and ensure that your activity is covered.
Significant Exclusions
Please be aware that First Travel Insurance does not provide cover for any claim for:

Anyone travelling against the advice of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO),

Any claim where at the time of purchase you had reasonable knowledge of circumstances that could
lead to a claim against the policy.
